Fairport Mardi Gras is a festival which takes place on the beach at Fairport Harbor Lake Front Metropark every year around the 4th of July weekend. There are rides, games, food, and fireworks. The Fairport Mardi Gras is ran by a group of volunteers who grew up and still live in the village, and/or someone who lived in the village and have since moved on, but still hold Fairport near to their hearts.
Herb Society of America

The national headquarters of The Herb Society of America resides in a stone farmhouse built in 1841. It is considered the oldest stone house in the county, built of Ohio sandstone quarried nearby. There is no admission fee to the house or gardens, allowing visitors to see beautiful examples of how to landscape with herbs. The building houses a 3,000-volume library, with Librarians available for research. Library holdings also include a collection of rare books dating back to the 17th century. Open Monday-Thursday, 9am to 5pm. Society grounds are available for wedding photography purposes.

Visit a remarkable and historic building in the center of Lake County that houses the only collection of 1900’s music boxes in the State of Ohio. A collection of these “Magical Musical Machines” demonstrates home entertainment from the turn of the century and vary in size from one foot to several feet. Children think they’re magic and teens are impressed by the size of the huge disks. Demonstrations are given to visitors Tuesday – Saturday from 10am-2pm and Sunday 1-4pm (May 1 – Oct 31) (Nov 1 – April 31 open Tuesday –Friday only 10am-2pm). The museum also contains displays of miniatures, trolleys, Civil War wing displaying petticoats to repeating rifles and “Courage & Conflict”, the story of the Mormons in Lake County, Ohio. Also an historic Ohio frontier village and under construction, a Native American site. The site of special events throughout the year.

The Lake County Juvenile Diabetes Walk Family is a 501-3c non-profit organization that raises money to help people suffering from Type 1diabetes. Our education program began in 2013 to teach people what to look for or do in case they think a child or dear friend or spouse may have this dreaded disease. Money raised will be presented to help build the local foundation and in return give local people needing diabetes awareness and education.
